Lu Pu Bridge over the Huang Pu River
We arrived safely in Shanghai on the night It was a longer flight than we expected and we both arrived our Shanghai hotelquited tired. But alas we had to get to the China hotel. Now that was a challenge. Having the forthought to print the hotel's details in chinese first. We had two full days in Shanghai, and they were filled with sightseeing and wandering through the endless shopping malls. We visited the new Lu Pu Bridge in Shanghai yesterday. It is the most recently built bridge on the Huang Pu River, which was done in 2003, the longest steel arch bridge in the world. Similar to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Lupu Bridge also functions as a sightseeing attraction of Shanghai travel. But unlike the Nanpu Bridge and Yangpu Bridge, the viewing platform of the Lupu Bridge is installed at the top of its giant-bow-like arch lib, which not only greatly enhance the viewing scope, but also enableChina travelsightseers to enjoy the 300-step-plus walk up the “slope” along the arch rib, making the experience more interesting and unforgettable. Sightseers are to take the high-speed transparent elevator up to the main deck of the bridge, walk up the steps of the pathway along the arch rib ?C the back of this “giant-bow” ?C for about 280 meters, reaching the viewing platform about the size of a basketball field at top of the 100-meter high arch rib, and taking in the breath-taking scenery of the Huangpu River. The view was amazing. We head to Beijing by China Southerntomorrow for the next leg of the trip. Hope all is well back in Australia.
